Maine State Police are investigating multi-vehicle crashes on I-95 in Bangor

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – Maine State Police are investigating two separate car accidents on the interstate in Bangor late Saturday morning that sent two people to the hospital with minor injuries.

Officials say a vehicle traveling in the passing lane accelerated and moved into the lane to take exit 186.

This meant that a vehicle in the right lane had to brake quickly to avoid a collision.

As a result, according to officials, a three-vehicle chain accident occurred, blocking both the passing and driving lanes.

We were informed that the vehicle that took the exit was not involved in the accident and did not stop.

The first accident caused another accident that also involved three vehicles.

According to officials, traffic was blocked for about an hour while the scene was cleared.

The crash is still under investigation.
