Three years later Lucifer As the gates of hell close for six seasons in 2021, fans of supernatural justice are in for a treat with the K-drama Demon Against Deadly Crime The judge from hell. As the wild demon judge Justitia (Oh Na-ra) unjustly sends a person to eternal damnation, they are immediately banished from Hell and sent to earth to be punished. To atone for her sins (no pun intended), this flawed demon judge must serve in the human realm for a year, act as a courtroom judge, and, most importantly, hunt down ten merciless murderers who truly deserve the wrath of Hell. Although Lady Justice and Lucifer Morningstar come from opposite ends of the earth (Tom Ellis) give new meaning to the phrase “diabolical justice,” each igniting the fires of hell over Earth’s corrupt legal system.

What is the K-drama “The Judge from Hell” about?

The judge from hell introduces the audience to Justitia, a demonic judge who rules the courtroom for the afterlife and without hesitation sends souls to heaven or the pits of fire. But on Earth, one snowy night, the human judge Kang Bit-na (Park Shin Hye) is found dead after being stabbed in the stomach. When her soul arrives before Justice, the demon judge quickly sentences her to hell without listening to Bit-na. However, Justice's judgment is flawed, and Bael (Shin Sung-rok) – a high-ranking demon – shows up and is angry that an innocent soul has been wrongly convicted. As punishment, Bael banishes Lady Justice from Hell and forces her to take over Bit-na's life on Earth. That's not all: to get back to hell, She must find and convict ten reckless souls who took innocent lives and showed no remorse. Otherwise, she will be killed at the hands of Bael.

Justice is now stuck in Bit-na's body and has a big task ahead of her. Luckily, she's not the only one banished from Hell. her demon assistant Valak (Kim Sang-woo) is forced to join his master on Earth and possesses the deceased corpse of a working-level official named Gu Man-do (Kim In Kwon). By day, Lady Justice rules Bit-na's courtroom with a sharp tongue, no patience whatsoever, and a talent for calling out people's nonsense like no other. One of the perks of her day job is that Justice can use her position to track down Earth's worst criminalswhich makes it easier for her to complete her task.

While Lady Justice is a demonic judge trying to return to Hell, Lucifer Morningstar – the devil himself – has a more rebellious streak. Rather than go into exile, it is Lucifer who chooses to live on Earth, where he has left his duties in Hell behind to run his fancy nightclub, Lux. But he also can't resist throwing himself into crime solving and becomes a civilian consultant for the LAPD just to have fun and have the chance to use his devilish powers. Like Justice, he is short-lived, has an uncompromising attitude and expensive taste, wears well-tailored outfits and drives around the city in luxury cars.

“The Judge from Hell” isn’t afraid to get bloody like “Lucifer”

Similar Lucifer, The judge from hellis not afraid to get downright brutal and cruel. Although Justice's jurisdiction only allows her to exercise judicial duties, she must meet a tight deadline. If the police don't pay attention, Justice becomes directly involved in these messy, twisted cases. Some of these cases are not for the faint of heart. One storyline involves a man who, after being reported for assault by his partner, gets caught up in a sick revenge plan that almost drives the victim to take his own life. In another case, an elementary school teacher engages in a bitter custody battle with her late husband's mother – only to discover that murder, child abuse and shady inheritance plans may be the larger motive. Every criminal is vicious and relentlessand worthy of a first-class ticket to hell, courtesy of Lady Justice.

While Lucifer also follows a crime-of-the-week structure; the cases are often a bit simpler in comparison. Lucifer often becomes involved in cases that delve into his background, such as a robbery of a warehouse he unknowingly owns or the investigation of a murder on the set of a television show inspired by his own life. But Lucifer goes deep when it wants to. One of the series' main storylines is Lucifer's stubborn refusal to return to Hell and follow the orders of his father (aka the Almighty God). Because of his connections to the afterlife, Lucifer is bound to encounter cases that could be due to creatures outside this world.

Romance gets fiendishly complicated in both shows

For Justice and Lucifer, love isn't just complicated – it's downright otherworldly. Nevertheless, Justice in Bit-na's body comes into conflict with Han Da-on (Kim Jae-young), the razor-sharp detective known for his unwavering sense of justice at the Nobong Police Station. Da-on first meets Lady Justice when he ends up in Bit-na's court, charged with “excessive force” against a knife-wielding attacker. At first he admires her sharp judgment, but Da-on realizes something is wrong when he looks at more of her judgments.

This once fair judge has become cold, unpredictable and even ruthless – and Da-on won’t give up on her decisions. He begins to shadow her, growing suspicious with each strange encounter until he discovers her demonic origins. Against his better judgement, he stays by her side – and even moves directly near her house. Justice is initially upset and senses a rare opportunity to use Da-on as a partner in her search for murderers worthy of hell. Like any true K-drama, their love-hate relationship evolves into something more real. But love between a human and a demon is of course out of the question.

Meanwhile, the selfish and devilishly charming Lucifer is practically glued to Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German), much to her annoyance. Initially skeptical of his strangely prescient insights into suspects, Detective Decker soon finds himself relying on his skills (while tolerating his talk) as they tackle one case after another. Behind all the chatter and chatter is Detective Decker sees glimpses of a vulnerable side Lucifer hides from everyoneincluding himself. Finally the wall between them begins to break down. At the climax of the series, when Chloe's life is in danger of being murdered by his rival demons, Lucifer realizes that he is willing to lose his powers and even his throne in Hell to save her.
