Raygun delivers a surprising performance just days after announcing his retirement

  • Raygun performed with Australian star Tones and I after she announced her retirement.
  • Rachael Gunn was criticized for her Olympic routine, which she said impacted her decision to step away.
  • Her new appearance sparked speculation about a possible return to breakdancing.

Australian breakdancer Rachael “Raygun” Gunn performed her viral Olympics performance on stage just days after announcing her retirement.

Gunn, 37, joined Australian singer Tones and I on stage as the star sang “Dance With Me” at her concert in Melbourne on Saturday.

Tones and I – real name Toni Watson – is best known for their 2019 single “Dance Monkey.”

In a video of the routine posted to Watson's Instagram, Gunn showed off some of the same moves that drew criticism after her elimination from the round-robin phase of the breaking competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“Raygun, the most beautiful, kind and fun-loving person I have ever met. It was an honor celebrating you last night,” Watson wrote in the video’s caption.

“Thank you for sharing the stage with me and putting smiles on so many faces. You always have a friend in me. sounds,” she added.

In another video shared to Gunn's Instagram Story, she appears to teach Watson's dancers some of her viral moves, including one that Olympic fans compared to a kangaroo hop.

The performance came days after Gunn said she now only dances “in my living room.”

“I definitely wanted to keep competing, but it seems really difficult to take on a fight now,” Gunn told 2DayFM, a Sydney radio station, on Wednesday. “I still dance and I still take breaks, but it’s like being in my living room with my partner.”

“The level of control that will be there, and people will film it, and it will go online, and it just won't mean the same, it won't be the same experience because everything is at stake,” , she added.

However, Gunn's recent appearance has left fans wondering if she has changed her mind about retirement.

Gunn posted a video of a viewer who wrote that the Olympian “isn't retiring.”

“She’s loud, proud and what a routine,” they added.

Representatives for Gunn did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider sent outside regular business hours.
