Daniel Jones bombs the Panthers and could get Giants coach Brian Daboll fired

What was supposed to be a duel between two terrible teams in Munich wasn't. So far, only one of these teams has appeared to be a real contender for the first overall pick in the NFL Draft. Somehow it's not the Carolina Panthers. It's the New York Giants.

Much of the blame can be laid at the feet of Daniel Jones, who is playing some of the worst football all season. Before halftime, Jones had a terrible performance against the worst defense in the league. It could cost him a job and get Brian Daboll fired.

Daniel Jones is 6/14 for 54 yards and an interception at halftime in Munich. The pick was a ball that deflected into the air, but throwing it directly into an edge rusher's helmet spells trouble. His rating is 24.1.

The Panthers defense is by far the worst in the NFL. Over 32 points per game are possible. The next closest is around 28 points. It was a historically bad defense. The cure? Apparently he plays Jones and the Giants.

Twice the Giants had chances to score, missed a field goal and threw the red zone pick. The Panthers shut them out in the first half. This is a team that was missing a few stars in Week 1, when it gave up 30 in the first half. Jones was, without exaggeration, a complete idiot today.

The Jones era should have been on thin ice, but now the ice is breaking. If an NFL veteran can't play well against this defense, he shouldn't have a job. Daboll may be hampered by his quarterback, but he may suffer from his refusal to bench Jones.

Jones missed two wide open receivers on a third-down flea flicker and collected a sack. He threw an interception off a defender's helmet. He only has six completions against a terrible secondary. It was all bad, and thankfully for Giants fans, it may soon be over. The Panthers ended Dennis Allen's coaching tenure. They could get Daboll next.
