This is entirely justified as Mazur becomes increasingly entangled in the dark and dangerous world of drug cartels.

Cranston as the lead was highly praised by critics, who noted that the actor found his true fame in the form of corrupt characters. Cranston compared his portrayal of Mazur to his legendary Walter White and was described as dynamic in an Oscar-worthy, attention-grabbing role.
