Camarillo man arrested for looting in evacuation area

CAMARILLO, Calif. – A 37-year-old Camarillo man was arrested for looting as part of an evacuation order during the Nov. 8 Mountain Fire, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

The victim left his electric bike on his driveway while he surveyed the fire damage before it was stolen from him by a neighborhood landscaper, the VCSO said.

Due to the time and location of the theft, the 37-year-old admitted to stealing the bike and was later arrested for looting, the VCSO explained.

According to the VCSO, the man was then booked into the detention center.
