Mike Williams and Preston Smith make their debuts for the Steelers on Sunday

The Commanders added cornerback Marshon Lattimore at the trade deadline. He won't play against the Steelers today.

The Steelers added receiver Mike Williams and edge rusher Preston Smith on the final day of the trade period. Both are expected to play todayvia Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.

Williams is the more intriguing of the two. The Steelers needed a better No. 2 receiver behind George Pickens, all due respect to Van Jefferson. Williams could step right into that role.

And for all the concern about Aaron Rodgers and Williams not being a good fit in New York, let's not blame it all on Williams. Or most of it. Or half of it.

Rodgers is persistent. Headstrong. He didn't trust Williams. He accused Williams of going the wrong way during the game-winning interception against the Bills.

Say what you will about Russell Wilson, but he would never publicly confront a teammate. And he will trust Williams immediately.

Williams trusts his receivers. He isn't so obsessed with completion percentage and touchdown-to-interception ratio (unlike some others) that he doesn't roll the dice on whether the receiver goes ahead and gets the ball.

That was the difference in Pittsburgh's passing game under Williams. He trusts his boys. For example, he throws to Pickens when he is covered. He will do the same with Williams.

And the Steelers will be better for it.
