The 10 best bets of the week for the Detroit Lions against the Houston Texans

The Detroit Lions have received a high level of production from quarterback Jared Goff, who has been the NFL's most efficient quarterback through the first eight games of the Lions' season.

Goff leads the NFL with a 74.9 percent completion percentage while throwing for 1,840 yards, 14 touchdowns and four interceptions. He had several games in which he didn't record an incompletion in the first half, finishing 18-for-18 in the team's Week 4 game.

Because the Lions' running game has been so efficient, Goff hasn't been asked to put the ball in play many times in recent weeks. Rather, his attempts were a series of well-timed throws that kept the offense moving down the field.

He has thrown 25 or fewer passes in each of Detroit's last six games and has thrown more than 30 times only once. This game was Detroit's second of the year, a loss to Tampa Bay in which Goff threw 55 times.

The current over/under limit for his pass attempts is 29.5 at odds of (-102), according to FanDuel Sportsbook. If the Lions are efficient with their running game, as they have been during their six-game winning streak, Detroit's passing game will be less taxed and the veteran quarterback could once again fall short of his projected number of pass attempts.

Wide receiver Jameson Williams has proven to be the exciting deep threat the team was hoping for in 2024.

Although it took some time for the young receiver to find his rhythm, his speed was a key attribute. PlayiLottery lead writer Drew Ellis has Williams exceeding his projected total receiving yards, currently pegged at 36.5 at odds of (-110) via FanDuel Sportsbook.

“Despite missing two games, Williams is still second on the team in receiving yards and goals,” Ellis told Lions OnSI. “His speed adds a lot of different dimensions to Detroit's offense, and that's something Ben Johnson is using wisely enough to take on a strong Houston defense this week. Oddsmakers don't put much stock in Williams because his total is a number. “He can easily take a hit when it comes to production. I think there will be more than 75 yards to line up on his return trip.”

The game odds are updated regularly and are subject to change.
