Tom Holland says his Spider-Man 4 pitch was rejected because of Captain America 4 – comic book movies and superhero movie news

The Spider-Man of the MCU Tom Holland has announced that Kevin Feige and other executives behind the franchise have rejected one of his ideas Spider Man 4 because they already explored that in Captain America 4. Holland's last MCU project was 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which he shared the screen with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, the two actors who have also portrayed the Marvel superhero films.

Tom Holland presented a Spider-Man 4 idea that is already used in Captain America: Brave New World

Tom Holland headlined MCU's Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), and appeared in several other projects in the franchise. While speaking with Rich Roll on his podcast, Holland said that his re-entry into the MCU is the biggest of the “three or four things” he's juggling now. He talked about how collaborative the effort was before revealing that one of his pitches couldn't be used in Spider-Man 4 because he was already part of Captain America: Brave New World.

While describing his experience with Marvel, Holland told Rich Roll, “I'll come up with an idea and they'll say, no, you can't do that, because we're doing that in the new Captain America movie,” he added. It’s really cool to see them have this vision for the future.”

All three MCU Spider-Man films were huge hits. “Homecoming” grossed over $880 million at the global box office against a production budget of $175 million. Meanwhile, “Far From Home” grossed $1.133 billion on a budget of $160 million, and “No Way Home” grossed $1.92 billion on a budget of $200 million, becoming the #1 sixth highest-grossing film of all time.

In the same interview, Holland stated that the script for the fourth film “lit a fire within him.” “Zendaya and I sat down and read it together, and we jumped around the living room at times like this was a real movie that deserved the fans' respect,” he explained.

Marvel has not yet announced the release date of Spider-Man 4.
