Netflix's hit anime Death Game is My Guilty Pleasure and happens to be one of the manga's best Seinen gems

Record of Ragnarok is a strange beast of its franchise with an incredibly popular Netflix Original Net Animation (or ONA) of Coamix's 2017 manga by Shinya Umemura. However, when I discovered the series in its manga form before diving into the Netflix series, I quickly found myself confused by what I was seeing, with Azychika's delightful characters presented as a full-color slideshow of manga panels and nothing more were shown. Despite these low points, I can't help but enjoy it Record of Ragnarok A frustratingly bad anime because I love his manga so much and look forward to each new chapter.

Also known as Shūmatsu no Warukyūre or “Doomsday Valkyrie” Record of Ragnarok follows the gods of Valhalla's decision to exterminate humanity, but the decision is challenged by Brunhilde of the Valkyries. Brunhilde plays with the pride of the gods and suggests a tournament death game. The tournament is considered Ragnarok, where the gods can fight the reconstituted dead people throughout history and myths. The best seven of thirteen rounds decide whether humanity will endure its execution for another thousand years. Record of Ragnarok fulfills this premise and offers an entertaining anime game “His Death”, with all the bells and whistles.

Record of Ragnarok is a guilty pleasure anime

Netflix has done so much better since 2021

I still remember watching season 1 of Record of Ragnarok and I'm looking forward to seeing the characters designed by the four-person art team Azychika. While the fight between Thor and Lü Bu had its moments, the stiff action and flat delivery of the more exaggerated facial expressions are hard to miss. Round 2, with the biblical Adam against Zeus, has an excellent fight in the manga, which as many fans know, segues into a slideshow with punch sound effects that make for an epic fight; It's pretty weak, I'm willing to admit, and it's easier to just enjoy it as a guilty pleasure.

The voice cast features excellent acquisitions and is featured across all franchises
Persona, Fairy Tail, Dan Da Dan, One Piece, Go! Go! Loser Ranger!
and more.

A key part of what I enjoy Record of Ragnarok features the strong Japanese voice cast and, ironically, the studio's amusing choices in its animation priorities. The voice cast features excellent acquisitions and is featured across all franchises Persona, Fairy Tail, Dan Da Dan, One Piece, Go! Go! Loser Ranger! and more. Beyond this observation, I also find that during the fight between Lü Bu and Thor Most of the focus on depicting convincing, if exaggerated, movement was placed on Aphrodite's breasts, namely deeply hilarious yet still on-brand for its fan service.

Recording Ragnarok's anime feels like a studio mismatch

But future fights could prove better

Record of Ragnarok Animation was taken over by Graphinica in 2021, with its subsidiary Yumeta Company joining for the second season in 2023. Each studio's credentials are fascinating. like Graphinica, which handles the last three and arguably the best OVAs for it Hellsing: Ultimate and Yumeta Company joins them Muv-Luv alternative.

His manga readers have even more reason to be excited as they wait for more Record of Ragnarok, as this witch tournament manga is heading west soon.

Neither company was able to achieve genre-defining success that they could completely call their own. But even with well-animated sequences, they're not clumsy. They usually don't focus as much on fighting anime, but do show improvements.

The best parts of the Ragnarok series on Netflix are simply opportunities to read the manga

To the surprise of no one

Despite these problems, I enjoy it Record of Ragnarok Anime for moments like Kojiro Sasaki vs. Poseidon, where despite still having the weak animation of the first season, Kojiro is a truly lovable character who delivers the most uplifting fight of the season. It almost felt like an apology for the last two fights, which I was happily able to enjoy until season two. Record of Ragnarok Season 2's animations have improved, although the Jack the Ripper vs. Hercules and Buddha vs. Zerofuku/Hajun fights have strange choices made with CGI and distractingly dim lighting, other strange creative decisions still complicate the game.

The lighting selection in

Record of Ragnarok
Round 4, depicting Jack the Ripper versus Hercules from Season 2, Episodes #1-5, is intended to recreate Victorian London, England and fulfill Jack's desire for home field advantage. On paper it makes sense and evokes the right mood, but the implementation is a bit awkward.

This is because of how exciting the manga is; the elaborate death sacrifices of gods and men in Record of Ragnarok have been removed from the pages of the series, and to the credit of the animators, They reproduce the best panels quite well. The immensely twisted facial expressions the series is known for, such as Loki's twisted smile, are still shockingly well-executed in the anime. However, since there are few strong animations until the sixth round, you can buy the volumes and color them to achieve the same effect.

The story of Ragnarok Manga continues and becomes more and more addictive

As the anime continues, it needs to step up its game

What drives me crazy is the fact that all of my favorite moments from the series are still to come. If Record of Ragnarok Anime continues its success story, The best it will do is be an animated pastiche of the manga. Round 7 features a glorious clash between Qin Shi Huang and Hades, and Round 8 features my favorite Einherja, Nikola Tesla, who will surely win the hearts of many viewers as his armor and technology represent a great opportunity for Graphinica represent unfolding his sensible mecha chops. Round 10 even features my favorite fight in the manga so far.

All this is to say that while Record of Ragnarok is inconsistent on its best days, it has the opportunity to have its best fights knowing that it has the greatest potential to attract new viewers. Round 7 features two ikemen, or fighters, with “incredibly handsome adult male characters” who will draw the audience's attention to the brutal fight. The fan reception for Buddha in Round 6 shows the utility of joining this call. However, the manga becomes more and more addictive Record of Ragnarok In round 10 there will be a real sword duel, with targeted fights becoming decisive experiences for the spectators.

Now it's up to you

Record of Ragnarok

Anime to meet these quality standards because the manga is really worth it.

Whether the Record of Ragnarok Since the anime rivals the quality of the manga or offers a completely transformative experience, I'll probably still watch it, both to see if it gets better and simply because it's in a fitting location. The anime scene has improved on Netflix since 2021, with two of my favorite series of the fall 2024 season: Blue box And Dan Da Danis currently running there My happy marriage Season 2 and Sakamoto days follow soon.
