9-year-old injured in drive-by shooting in Flint; Crime Stoppers is asking for tips

FLINT, Mich. (WNEM) – Crime Stoppers of Flint and Genesee County is asking for your help solving a cold case in which a child has been critically injured.

On Saturday, September 14, around 10 p.m., a 9-year-old girl was injured in a drive-by shooting. She was at a home in the 1700 block of Marlow Drive on Flint's north side.

Julie Lopez, executive director of Crime Stoppers, said the home belongs to the victim's grandmother.

Crime Stoppers said more than 40 shots were fired at and into the home. The girl was hit in the chest by one of these bullets.

“This young girl is a survivor; She’s strong,” Lopez said.

The family has told Lopez the girl is doing better, but they want answers.

So far there are no clues in the case.

“We need someone to come forward. Give us some information so we can find out who did this and bring justice to this family,” Lopez said.

Any tips and information you can give Crime Stoppers will help investigators.
