A 15-year-old fought another teenager and ended up shooting him, North Carolina police say

LAURINBURG, SC (WMBF) – One teenager is injured and another is in custody after a shooting Thursday in Laurinburg.

Laurinburg Police responded to a gunshot victim on Kinston Street around 12:10 p.m.

At the crime scene they found the victim, a 16-year-old boy. EMS took the boy to the hospital for treatment and then to another medical facility, but he is expected to be OK.

After investigating, police learned that a 15-year-old boy had come to fight with the 16-year-old at the home on Kinston Street. The 15-year-old then pulled out a gun and shot the 16-year-old, according to police.

The 15-year-old turned himself in to police shortly before 1 p.m

Police are charging the boy with assault with a deadly weapon and intent to kill, as well as possession of a firearm by a minor, according to Capt. Chris Young.

Young said more charges could follow.
