“Texans kicker sets NFL record during Texans-Lions game”

It's abundantly clear that each of the three phases of football is critically important in its own right – with special teams being extremely underrated. The Houston Texans have had an incredible performance from their kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn this season.

As the Texans face the Detroit Lions – a 7-1 team – they need every bit of help and success with every lead. They figured that out in the first half, securing a 23-7 lead at halftime. Fairbairn was also a standout in the first half, hitting three field goals and two extra points and adding 11 points in his perfect first half.

With one of his field goals, Fairbairn set an NFL single-season record with almost half the season remaining.

“Fairbairn made 11 50-yard field goals this season, tying the NFL record for most 50-yard field goals made in NFL history,” the Texans revealed on social media.

The Texans looked strong in the trenches, CJ Stroud looked sharp and Fairbairn's performance was tremendous as Houston led the Lions by 16 points at halftime and looked for a comfortable win while shorthanded.
