The first new character in The Witcher 4 seems to have been accidentally revealed by its actor, although he tells us next to nothing about the game itself.

Over the weekend, Reddit user KekanKok discovered that the listing for actor Jake Lampert on Spotlight, a British casting website, included a listing for a role in The Witcher 4 under the codename Polaris. Lampert's entry references the 2025 placeholder date that CD Projekt Red is currently using and says he plays a character named Branko.

Aside from the entry's statement that it was directed by Kate Saxon, who did the mocap directing for The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3 as well as several other video game projects, we can say next to nothing about Branko. A bit of additional research suggests that it's a common name in Croatia and Serbia, but given the Slavic origins of the Witcher series, that's not a huge surprise. It could While that means we're going a little further beyond CD Projekt's homeland of Poland, the inspiration for the series extends far beyond a single country.

While Branko makes me feel like the most generic Witcher NPC imaginable, he's notable because he's only the second character actually confirmed for The Witcher 4. Geralt actor Doug Cockle says he will be “a part” of The Witcher 4. Even though he isn't the focus of the game, we know next to nothing about the story or the characters that will appear in the role-playing game. The going odds suggest we'll focus on Ciri, and the mysterious lynx medallion, which is pretty much the only concrete information we have about the game, could provide another clue, but for now it looks through and through after Branko and Geralt.

You may be able to test out the new Cyberpunk or Witcher, but only if CD Projekt Red decides your “player profile” is good enough for Geralt.
