New plan to combat youth violence in Naples – Interior Min. – Top News

The Interior Ministry announced on Monday a plan to combat increasing youth violence in the Naples metropolitan area.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi in the southern port city's prefecture with senior local officials, including Mayor Gaetano Manfredi.

As part of the plan, Piantedosi ordered security measures around nightclubs, which mainly attract young people, to be tightened and additional video surveillance cameras to be installed in a few months.

The measure follows the killing of 18-year-old Arcangelo Correra, who was allegedly shot by his teenage cousin on Saturday.

In total, three teenagers were killed in the Naples area in just over two weeks.

Before Correra, 15-year-old Emanuele Tufano was shot in a shootout between teenage gangs in downtown Naples on the night of October 23-24.

On November 2, 19-year-old Santo Romano was allegedly shot and killed by a 17-year-old who confessed to investigators that he murdered Romano because he “dirty” his designer shoes.
