National Veterans Day Parade

The country's oldest Veterans Day parade will take place on Monday, November 11, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The 77th National Veterans Day Parade takes place on the streets of downtown Birmingham. Follow this link for the parade route and follow on Facebook.

Beethoven and blue jeans

Dress up, relax and enjoy classical music at the Mobile Symphony Orchestra's annual Beethoven and Blue Jeans festival November 9-10 at the Saenger Theater. This year's relaxed concert offers triple the fun. Beethoven's Triple Concerto with violinist Benjamin Baker, cellist James Baik and pianist Chaeyoung Park. Also included are Haydn’s “Surprise” Symphony and Montgomery’s Starburst. Purchase tickets at mobilesymphony.org, by calling 251-432-2010 or at the Symphony Orchestra box office. Fairhope Film Festival

Thousands of film lovers will see independent films and newly released films at the annual Fairhope Film Festival November 7-10. The festival features premier, award-winning films and free panels with film industry dignitaries. The festival was created to bring the best of film culture to the region, promote the region as an attractive location for the film industry and encourage Alabama filmmakers. National Peanut Festival

The National Peanut Festival festivities in Dothan continue through Sunday, November 10th. The festival includes a demolition derby, parade, car and truck show, livestock events, concerts, pageants, competitions and fireworks displays. Click here for the full event schedule. The festival will be held at 5622 US Highway 231 South in Dothan.

Christmas Village Festival

The Christmas Village Festival runs through Sunday, November 10th at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex. This long-standing, traditional family favorite will welcome thousands of shoppers from across the country. The festival features a variety of gifts and gadgets including accessories, clothing, art, beauty/health/body products, books, food and wine, holiday and home decor, jewelry and toys. Santa Claus will be on hand to receive the Christmas wishes of all boys and girls.

UAB Department of Music events

UAB's music program includes:

  • November 11: Percussion Ensemble, 7 p.m. – The UAB Percussion Ensemble will perform classical works, current compositions and modern arrangements using various percussion instruments. Entry is free.
  • November 12: Jazz Ensemble Concert, 7 p.m. – UAB’s Jazz Ensemble will perform big band music from classic gems to modern masterpieces. Entry is free.

Springville Arts & Crafts Festival

Springville is known for good food and entertainment at its annual festival November 8-10. Festival-goers will see pioneer demonstrations, blacksmithing, wood carving, wood-fired cooking, quilting, whiskey making and original cabins as built by early settlers. Activities for the whole family include live entertainment and children's activities. Homestead Hollow is located at 1161 Murphyes Valley Road.
