Dan Campbell's speech in the locker room after the win over the Houston Texans

play

I suspect Dan Campbell had a very different locker room speech planned.

In the locker room at NRG Stadium after the Detroit Lions' electric finish to beat the Houston Texans 26-23, the head coach couldn't contain his excitement.

“Man, that’s the definition of resiliency,” Campbell said. “You guys just kept going, right? We did whatever we had to do. And we just bought ourselves time.”

Of the Lions’ defense, Campbell said: “That was outstanding, man. And we knew it was just a matter of time.”

Of the Lions’ offense, he said: “We get our points. (Kicker Jake) Bates, that was fucking huge, alright?”

“And I’ll say that again. That's what great teams do. That’s what great teams do,” Campbell continued. “Even if you have a day off. You find a way, man. You fucking find a way and you want it to happen.”

“You did that today. You did that.”

Campbell then presented three game balls. First to defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn.

Second to cornerback Carlton Davis III.

And of course the third ball goes to Bates.

At the end, as usual, Campbell asks Goff to break it down.

“Hey, if this ain't a f—–g lesson, it ain't over 'til it's over, that's it, guys. Kind of a f—–g fight all day,” Goff said. “We’re a hell of a lot different than all 31 in this league, okay?

“Win on three. One. Two. Three.”

Team: “Win.”

And it looks like I'll win one of my fantasy games this week thanks to Bates.
