Man arrested after reports of multiple assaults

ELMIRA (WBNG) – Elmira Police announced Monday the arrest of a man for a sex crime.

Elmira Police arrested Michael J. Valderrama. He faces criminal charges for sexual abuse. Officials did not provide Valderrama's age or address.

Police said that on Nov. 9, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers were called to the area of ​​the Center Town parking garage for a report of a person being assaulted by a male subject.

Police said several other similar reports were received shortly thereafter involving the same attack on other victims.

According to police, Valderrama entered a restaurant on West Water Street and sexually assaulted a female victim. She sought medical attention at ERWAY Ambulance.

Police said Valderrama was found by officers with the help of a citizen.
