A gas leak has been reported in the Laney Walker neighborhood of Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Firefighters were searching for a reported natural gas leak near Charles T. Walker Magnet School Monday morning.

Neighbors reported a strong smell along Augusta Avenue, a block west of the school, and firefighters were dispatched to find the leak.

At 10:15 a.m. they were still looking for it

Some residents said they had to leave the area because of the potential danger.

In other news, 12 viewers told us they could taste it and it was burning their eyes and lungs. They reported dizziness and headaches.

The area is located on Wrightsboro Road east of 15th Street and south of RA Dent Boulevard in the Laney Walker neighborhood.
