Tom Homan: Tom Homan's old argument video with AOC goes viral after Trump appoints him border czar

The Republicans cheered Tom Homan after President-elect Donald Trump appointed former ICE Director Tom Homan as the new administration's border czar. MAGA supporters shared a video of his argument with Democrat Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and marveled at his way of silencing “unintelligent” Democrats.
The Tom Homan – AOC video is from 2019 in which AOC asked Tom Homan if he was the author of a memo. In response, Homan said he signed the memo but was not the author of the memo. Then they debated family separation and zero tolerance in the immigration system. Homan has consistently advocated for a zero-tolerance immigration system that separated family members during detention and deportation.
“In case you don’t know Donald Trump’s new border czar Tom Homan,” MAGA supporter Benny Johnson wrote, sharing another video of Homan debating Pramila Jayapal. “You work for me. I’m a taxpayer,” Homan told Jayapal in the video.

Over the years, Homan's attitude toward AOC hasn't changed. Earlier this year, he said AOC wasn't very smart after AOC criticized Biden's move to restrict asylum seekers at the U.S.-Mexico border. “Doing Trump impersonations is not the way we beat Trump. Applying for asylum is a legal right of all people. In the face of authoritarian threats, we should not deviate from our principles – we should commit to them,” AOC said.
Homan said AOC needs to be honest. “… this is not about real asylum. This is about getting into the United States, this is about release, this is about not leaving the country as ordered by the courts. They'll be in hiding and on the run.” “I've been waiting for a few years for the next amnesty, for the next DACA. All these families coming over now, this is your next DACA,” he said.

Tom Homan contributed to Project 2025

Tom Homan, dubbed the father of family separation in immigration policy, was reportedly an employee of Project 2025, from whom Donald Trump distanced himself, saying he did not know who the people behind Project 2025 were. When Trump announced Homan as border czar, he wrote “I've known Tom a long time and there is no one better at policing and controlling our borders. Likewise, Tom Homan will be responsible for all deportations of illegal aliens to their country of origin. Congratulations to Tom. I have no doubt that he will do a fantastic and long-awaited job.”
