Man gets life in prison without parole for murder in connection with a 2021 gang-related shooting

TEXARKANA, Arkansas – A Memphis, Tennessee, man with alleged ties to the Texarkana-based Loyalty Cash Business gang was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole by a Miller County jury this week for capital murder.

Cornell Bernard Brown, 33, was found guilty of murdering Keith McFadden in September 2021. According to court documents, McFadden was shot on the street outside a home in the 1100 block of California St. in Texarkana, Arkansas, after visiting a friend. After the shooting, Brown allegedly searched McFadden's pockets, removing his wallet and a Rolex watch from his wrist.

Prosecutor Connie Mitchell told TXK Today on Friday, “We are grateful to the many law enforcement officers and agencies who participated in the investigation into the senseless death of Keith McFadden.”

“Their hard work led to the indisputable conclusion that Cornell Brown was responsible for his death,” Mitchell said. “David and I were proud to present this case to a jury that found Cornell Brown guilty of aggravated murder and sentenced him to life in the Arkansas Department of Correction without the possibility of parole.”

Mitchell, who heads the district attorney's office in the Eighth Judicial District south of Arkansas, represented the state along with Assistant District Attorney David Cotten.

“Mr. “McFadden's family was present throughout the trial to see justice served for their loved one,” Mitchell added.

Brown is also facing charges across state lines in Texas in connection with an alleged murder-for-hire arranged by members of the Loyalty Cash Business (LCB) gang. He faces multiple counts of engaging in organized crime in Bowie County, Texas, and is accused of the murder of Jermaine “Bubba” Aldridge in December 2020.

Brown allegedly traveled with co-defendant Cedric Alexander, 33, from Memphis to carry out the attack on December 30, 2021 in the parking lot of Chili's Restaurant in Texarkana, Texas. Cell phone records allegedly show Brown and Alexander driving at a top speed of 94 miles per hour from Texarkana, Texas, to Memphis immediately after Aldridge was shot.
