President-elect Donald Trump has selected former New York Rep. Lee Zeldin as his administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency, and Zeldin announced he has accepted the role.

“It is an honor to join President Trump’s Cabinet as EPA Administrator. We will restore U.S. energy dominance, revitalize our automotive industry to bring back American jobs, and make the U.S. the world leader in AI. We will do this while protecting access to clean air and water,” Zeldin wrote on X on Monday.

Zeldin, who lost the 2022 New York gubernatorial race to Kathy Hochul, remained close to Trump and made regular appearances at Mar-a-Lago throughout his 2024 campaign.
