After the fight, the felon hid a gun in the kitchen of a Milford restaurant

MILFORD, CT (WFSB) – A convicted felon is facing firearms charges after police said he hid a gun in the kitchen of a restaurant.

Police said 39-year-old Matthew Prosnick of Bridgeport was involved in a fight and entered the business's kitchen when they arrived to hide the gun.

The incident occurred Nov. 1 at Hair of the Dog on Bridgeport Avenue in Milford.

Police said they responded to a report of the fight in the parking lot of the business.

Witnesses reported that one of the men involved had a gun.

The officers set up a perimeter fence. They eventually found the suspect inside the business.

They identified him as Prosnick.

Police said they eventually arrested him because after the fight he went into the kitchen and hid a Ruger handgun.

The gun was determined to have been stolen from Bridgeport.

According to police, Prosnick was also a convicted felon.

The firearm and the ammunition that were also found were confiscated.

Prosnick was charged with second-degree breach of peace, criminal possession of a firearm and theft of a firearm.

Bail was set at $100,000. He was arraigned on November 4, 2024.

According to police, no injuries were reported.
