Stop & Shop, Hannaford stores affected by cybersecurity incident – NBC Boston

The parent company of grocery stores Stop & Shop and Hannaford said in a statement that they were recently affected by a “cybersecurity issue across their U.S. network.”

Ahold Delhaize USA said Friday that immediately after discovering the issue, it launched an investigation with the assistance of outside cybersecurity experts and notified law enforcement.

“Our teams are taking steps to assess and mitigate the issue,” the company said. “This also includes taking some systems offline to protect them. This issue and subsequent remedial actions have impacted certain Ahold Delhaize USA brands and services, including a number of pharmacies and certain e-commerce operations.”

This reportedly affected some stores' ability to accept debit or gift card payments. Hannaford's website also didn't work all weekend and Monday. Other stores reported issues with product delivery due to the cybersecurity issue.

All of the company's stores remain open and continue to serve customers, Ahold Delhaize USA said. They also said they will continue to take measures to further protect their systems.

“The safety of our customers, employees and partners is our top priority,” the company said. “We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused customers and partners.”

Stop & Shop has more than 200 locations in New England, including 117 in Massachusetts, 83 in Connecticut and 25 in Rhode Island. Hannaford has 36 locations in New Hampshire and another 68 in Maine.
