Bond again denied allegations that he tied up his wife and shot at police in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Bond has been rejected again for a man accused of shooting at police officers after tapping his wife in Myrtle Beach.

The decision was made Thursday during a hearing for 47-year-old William Hodges, who is charged with 14 counts of attempted murder as well as kidnapping, cruelty to animals and second-degree arson.

Hodges appeared virtually during Thursday's hearing. A judge also ruled that the bail decision will be reconsidered in three months, allowing time to hear any possible appeal.

Hodges is accused of stalking his wife for two days at a home on Longleaf Circle in October 2022.

According to the documents, Hodges' wife told police he hit her in the head with a hammer and tied her to a bed after an argument. She eventually escaped and sought help at a nearby fire station.

This led authorities to the home, where Hodges allegedly opened fire on officers, leading to an hours-long standoff. Officers also had to use tear gas to force him out. According to a police report, Hodges also allegedly set fire to a mattress in the back of the house.

Hodges was taken to a local hospital for unspecified injuries but has been housed at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center since his arrest.
