Man arrested for allegedly spitting on deputy

PATRICK COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – A Stuart man was arrested Saturday, November 9th for allegedly spitting on a Patrick County sheriff's deputy, along with other charges.

The Patrick County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance call at 1199 New Hope Road.

Master Deputy Matthew Rorrer and Sgt. According to the Patrick County Sheriff's Office, Lewis Carroll found James Turner bleeding and with his shirt torn. According to officials, James Turner is the suspect's father.

Officers say they located suspect Rodney Turner at a nearby residence for questioning.

Turner grabbed Sgt. Carroll's flashlight, leading to a physical altercation, according to police. Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith says video footage shows Turner turning his head and spitting at Sgt. Carroll, as a gymnast, resisted arrest.

Rodney Turner, 30, was arrested and charged with domestic violence and battery, obstruction of justice and assault and battery on a law enforcement officer. He is being held without bail in the Patrick County Jail.
