Cheshire teacher is placed on leave after a politically charged Snapchat video was posted on social media

CHESHIRE, Conn. (WFSB) – A Cheshire teacher is on leave after a politically charged Snapchat video she recorded was posted on social media.

Cheshire Public School Superintendent Dr. Jeff Solan, said he became aware of the video over the weekend.

He said she intended the video to be a private message to her group on Snapchat and that she was expressing her personal opinion, not that of Cheshire Public Schools.

“Cheshire Public Schools is reviewing this situation as a personnel matter and as such we are following all applicable laws,” Solan said.

The unidentified teacher is on leave pending the completion of the investigation. Solan said it was clear the school could not continue as usual with her there.

The school has received a large number of calls, mainly from people outside the Cheshire community.

Although there have been no direct threats, there will be a police presence as a precaution.
