On October 22, 2024, Brighthouse Life Insurance Company (“Brighthouse”) filed a notice of data breach with the Massachusetts Attorney General after discovering that confidential information provided to the Company was breached by a third party at Education Leaked were Benefit Consultants, LLC d/b/a Aviben. It appears that an administrator appointed by Brighthouse, DXC Technology Company, disclosed certain information to an unauthorized party. The unauthorized party was Education Benefit Consultants, LLC d/b/a Aviben (“Aviben”).

Subsequently, on February 22, 2024, Aviben experienced a data security incident that resulted in an unauthorized party being able to access confidential information of Brighthouse customers.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to unauthorized parties, Brighthouse Life Insurance reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were affected.
