A California teacher goes viral about a student wearing a Trump hat

A popular teacher at Chino High School could be in trouble after his angry reaction to one of his students wearing a Trump hat went viral on social media.

The student wore the hat the day after Trump won the election.

“I’m mad at people who vote for a rapist. I'm pissed off! Turn it off and go back to your damn seat now! Go take this…can you please send security up? I have a boy who wears a Trump hat and I won't stand for it,” the teacher was heard saying on video.

“I don’t care, let me fire them all up. I fight for my daughter, my wife, her rights,” the teacher continued.

Sonja Shaw, president of Chino Valley Unified, confirmed that the video was real, adding that other districts had the same problem.

Shaw describes the outburst, which you can hear in the video, as “unacceptable,” reflecting the concerns of parents who said the angry reaction was inappropriate.

“God knows what that teacher could be capable of in a fit of rage. You can't yell at a child or insult someone over a political issue. That's wrong. I don't mind children being reprimanded, but in the right way, not because of some political thing,” said parent Oscar Avila.

While the school has a dress code that covers indecent exposure or expressions of hatred, a Trump hat “is not unacceptable,” Shaw said.

“We had a lot of students wearing T-shirts and supporting both sides of the political debate in several schools without any problem,” she explained.

She can't speak to what the teacher might face, but said they are dealing with the issue, but “unfortunately, if this teacher has to be an example of what not to do, then we need to move forward … and bring our kids with us.” “We respect each other, be it in political matters or other matters.”

The teacher, who has been at the school for years without incident, did not respond to our attempts to speak to him.

Meanwhile, a Moreno Valley High School teacher was placed on leave last week after a similar outbreak during class. Moreno Valley Unified School District officials confirmed the educator is on administrative leave pending an investigation.
