Almost every game went for the Dolphins on Sunday

The Miami Dolphins are 2-6 and on a three-game losing streak. But thanks to a mediocre list of candidates in the AFC, reaching the postseason is not possible The far-fetched for Mike McDaniel and Co.

Regardless of the outcome of the Dolphins' game against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night, there will only be six teams in the AFC above .500 entering Week 11.

While it doesn't seem like a realistic scenario for the Dolphins to keep up with the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East race, taking on the Denver Broncos for the final spot in the playoff field isn't unthinkable. Especially after a near-perfect day of results for Miami on Sunday.

The Chiefs defeated Denver 5-5, the Bills left the Colts 4-6, and neither the Jets nor Jaguars could get a win to get back into the game. Combine those results with the Bengals being down 4-6 and losing to the Ravens on Thursday, and the Dolphins couldn't have asked for a better situation.

In a completely ideal world, the Commanders might have held off the Steelers from claiming their seventh win, the Bears would have kept the Patriots firmly in last place in the AFC East, and the Titans would have let the Chargers drop to 5-4.

Regardless, the AFC standings look like this after Sunday:

  1. Kansas City Chiefs: 9-0
  2. Buffalo Bills: 8-2
  3. Pittsburgh Steelers: 7-2
  4. Houston Texans: 6-3
  5. Baltimore Ravens: 7-3
  6. Los Angeles Chargers: 6-3
  7. Denver Broncos: 5-5
  • Indianapolis Colts: 4-6
  • Cincinnati Bengals: 4-6
  • New York Jets: 3-7
  • New England Patriots: 3-7
  • Miami Dolphins: 2-6

With a win, Miami would move up to 10th place on the list and be a game and a half behind the Broncos. Of course, if the Dolphins can't end their losing streak, the postseason impact will quickly become irrelevant.
