Danville Armed Prowler video footage released

At 2:36 a.m. Friday, police received a report that a man was seen in the backyard of a residence in the 600 block of Park Hill Road, near Morninghome Road. He was described as a Middle Eastern man wearing a blue hoodie and blue pants. Witnesses told police he was 40 to 50 years old, with short, curly hair and a clean-shaven face.

Witnesses told police he appeared disoriented and was running as if he was fleeing someone. A witness said he had what looked like a handgun and urged them to contact police.

Despite an extensive search involving K9 units, door-to-door knocking and an unmanned aerial system, the suspect remains at large as of Wednesday.

To help identify the suspect, the Danville Police Department released video footage to its social media channels on Wednesday. The video shows a man running back and forth in the backyard near a shed and then grabbing what appears to be a ladder. In the second half of the video, the man runs under a wind tunnel, then squats and breathes heavily for a few seconds. He then stands up, appears to point a gun in the air, and then runs away.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lt. Contact Heather Transue at [email protected] or the Danville Police Department at 925-820-2144. Danville police said they are increasing patrols in the area of Morninghome Road where the incident occurred.
