Medina County officials are pursuing the Ohio Amber Alert suspect accused of kidnapping a 7-year-old

EMPIRE, Ohio (WOIO) – An Amber Alert was issued Monday afternoon for a missing 7-year-old who was last seen in a damaged car with a man.

The Amber Alert was canceled at 9:15 p.m. after local authorities began pursuing the suspect.

“A tragic incident occurred here this evening. We had an Amber Alert that was recently terminated,” said Capt. Eric Bors with the Medina County Sheriff’s Office. “This is an ongoing investigation, the child is doing well and will be reunited with his mother shortly.”

The Medina County Ohio State Highway Patrol was pursuing the suspect starting at 8:45 p.m

OSHP would not provide any additional information.

Oaklynn Alexander, 7, was missing from Empire, Ohio. She is safe now.

According to Ohio's Amber Alert website, Oaklynn was suspected of being with 43-year-old Charles Alexander.

Oaklynn and Charles were believed to be in a gray 2018 Ford F150, but the truck was found unoccupied. They then switched to a U-Haul truck.

Officials say Charles took Oaklynn after an argument at a family member's home at 3 p.m. He does not have custody of the seven-year-old.

“The child is fine, thank God. And tragedy escaped,” said Captain Bors. “The child appeared to be physically fine at this point.”
