Corey Burke is accused of killing father Timothy Burke with an ice pick

A 33-year-old Seattle woman killed her father with an ice pick after the two argued about turning off the lights on Election Day, prosecutors alleged last week.

Corey Burke, who “appeared to be in a mental health crisis,” is accused of murdering 67-year-old Timothy Burke at his Seattle home around 8 p.m. last Tuesday, King County prosecutors wrote in charging documents obtained by The Post .

Authorities saw Corey leaving the Rainier Valley home with blood on her face after she allegedly broke windows in the home.

When police went inside, officers found Timothy's body with wounds to his head and torso, including 2-inch cuts to his chest, doctors said.

Another stab wound was near the base of the skull.

Officers also found a silver and blue ice climbing pickaxe with blood on it.

Corey, who was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation, allegedly confessed to investigators the next day that she killed her father with the ax and also strangled him. She also admitted to biting her father while choking him, doctors claimed.

“Corey stated … when her father began arguing with her about turning off the lights, she 'just freaked out,'” the documents say.

“The defendant told detectives that she knew she couldn't convince him to turn off the lights, so she went upstairs, got an ice pick, tripped her father, strangled him with the ax and her hands, bit him and struck him several times in the head and side with the blunt and sharp ends of the ice pick,” according to a prosecutor's case summary.

The daughter was charged with first-degree murder. She is being held at the county detention center on $2 million bail, according to court records.

According to the documents, Corey had described a strained relationship with her father and told police she felt “overfocused and disorganized when it came to her own bond with her father.”

She appeared “unable to care for herself” and posed a danger to herself, court documents said.

Her arraignment is scheduled for November 21.
