The Patriots' draft failure finds a new home in the NFC West

N'Keal Harry will get another chance to revive his NFL career.

The wide receiver/tight end signed with the Seattle Seahawks practice squad on Monday. Harry was released by the Minnesota Vikings in October after not appearing in any games for them this season. The Seahawks listed Harry as a tight end.

The New England Patriots' 2019 first-round pick first signed with the Vikings in August 2023 and appeared in nine games due to injuries to Justin Jefferson. Harry switched positions from wide receiver to tight end – something Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell said the 26-year-old was “eager to do.” However, he was never able to prove whether the change in position would help him get on the right path.

But after being on the market for a month, Harry will be moving to his third team in as many seasons.

Harry's time with the Patriots didn't go exactly as planned. He struggled to stay healthy and did not reach the end of his rookie contract as the Patriots declined his fifth-year option. The Chicago Bears acquired Harry in 2022 for a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. After an injury break due to an ankle injury, he played seven games.

He also had a rough start to 2023. After he signed with the Vikings in August, they decided to release him just 18 days later. Harry re-signed with the team's practice squad in September and was promoted the following month.

It's unclear how the Seahawks will use Harry – whether at the tight end or wide receiver position. Seattle is 4-5 this season and is fourth in the NFC West as it prepares for a Week 11 game against the San Francisco 49ers.
