A Wisconsin man is accused of throwing his baby against a wall after losing an NBA video game

A man in Wisconsin has been accused of throwing an eight-month-old baby against a wall out of frustration over losing a basketball video game.

Jalin White, 20, was arrested in Milwaukee last Thursday and charged with child abuse and child neglect, jail records show.

According to local station WISN, White was taken into custody after the boy's mother found him seriously injured in his playpen and took him to the hospital.

Prosecutors said at a court hearing Saturday that White gave contradictory and implausible explanations for the boy's condition until he finally admitted throwing him against the wall.

“This is a serious level of violence for an innocent toddler,” said prosecutor Madeline Witte.

The child is reportedly not expected to survive. According to legal documents viewed by Law and crimeWhite was caring for the child last Tuesday in a room he shares with the child's mother and that they rent from her parents.

The child, referred to in the documents as “JW,” was reportedly fine when his mother returned home from work. But after leaving the house to go shopping, she reportedly noticed that JW was barely breathing and his right arm was “twitching.”

The documents allege that despite White's “angry” questioning, the mother took Jehovah's Witnesses to the hospital, where she was told he had suffered a fractured skull, six broken ribs and a broken collarbone.

White allegedly claimed that JW was injured when his mother hit her head on a door frame; then he fell while changing his diaper; then that White himself had dropped JW while playing video games.

Eventually, the documents say, White admitted that he hurt JW himself because he was angry that he was two points behind in the video game NBA2K.

According to WISN, White became emotional as the details were recounted in court, shaking his head and crying.
