NAC Breda is punished by the KNVB after an incident against Feyenoord at De Kuip

The KNVB prosecutor for professional football has punished NAC Breda for the rioters who died wildly in De Kuip last September. According to Voetbal International, the ruling showed that there will be a conditional penalty for an away game without fans.

At the end of September last year, Feyenoord beat NAC 2-0 in the Eredivisie. After the game, things went wrong when some fans of the away team attacked a catering establishment, in which four Feyenoord employees were injured. Shortly after the violent incident, NAC already advocated for “maximum sentences” for the seven rioters who were eventually arrested.

The public prosecutor's office for professional football has now decided that NAC itself will not get away scot-free. The club from Breda received a conditional sentence of two years in prison for an away game without an audience.

In a new incident, NAC is once again facing a game without away fans. This was already the case once before this season, when the Pearl of the South had to play against SC Heerenveen (4-0) without an away crowd. This mainly had to do with the unrest surrounding the fireworks in the promotion game against Excelsior.
