10-year-old girl from Guizhou goes viral for martial arts balance

Ten-year-old Liu Shuhan, a girl from a rural village in Bijie, Guizhou Province, has captured public attention for her deft balance on the soft edge of a plastic pool – a feat many liken to a martial art qinggong.

A short video of her father went viral on social media. The girl with the sandbags on her legs stabilizes herself, then hops onto the edge of the pool and runs along the circle in a martial arts stance without wobbling.

Viewers called her control a “real martial arts skill” and some even analyzed how a child her size could balance on the narrow edge of an 8kg pool.

For them, walking on the edge is just a daily exercise. She practices Kung Fu every day before and after school.

Her father, Liu Yong, an enthusiastic martial artist, noticed his daughter's talent when she was six. Without any formal training, she could perform simple movements with ease. Inspired, the two practiced together and followed online tutorials.

Over time, the girl developed a deep passion for this discipline. “I want to be a martial artist,” she said.

The youngest of three children, Liu Shuhan accompanies her siblings every morning as her father helps them put on three-pound sandbags for a one-kilometer run.

Martial arts gave her confidence and dreams for the future. She even performed at her school's Children's Day event, earning the admiration of classmates and teachers alike.

The father said, “The best part is that she enjoys and really enjoys practicing Kung Fu.”
