Georgia man accused of selling $1 million worth of counterfeit college football and concert tickets

A Georgia man has been accused of selling more than $1 million worth of counterfeit college football and concert tickets.

Matthew Timothy Neet, 42, allegedly tricked more than 30 victims across the state into handing over $1.3 million in exchange for University of Georgia football tickets, concert tickets and real estate – none of which actually existed.

The Jones County Sheriff's Office said Neet typically advertises the nonexistent items for sale online.

Investigators initially noticed a scam involving fake UGA tickets before discovering that an alleged broader, multi-pronged scam had been going on “for quite some time,” the sheriff's office said.

Neet was arrested in early November and charged with theft by deception, the sheriff's office said Friday.

He was booked into the Jones County Jail on Nov. 5 and has been denied bail since then.
