Georgia man arrested in $1.3 million fake UGA ticket scam

A Georgia man is charged in connection with a ticket scam at the University of Georgia, authorities report.

Officials in Jones County in central Georgia say Matthew Timothy Neet advertised nonexistent tickets online, defrauding victims across the state.

After an investigation, officers determined this incident was part of a larger plan. Officials say Neet's alleged fraud misled more than 30 victims nationwide, resulting in an estimated total loss of $1.3 million.

Neet was arrested in Louisiana last week and subsequently extradited to the Jones County Jail. He is currently being held without bail.
