“After evaluating our overall effort, I concluded that it was in the best interest of our team to take the direction of our offense in a different direction. This decision was well thought out and made consciously and respectfully,” said head coach Matt Eberflus. “I would like to thank Shane for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future.”

Waldron will be replaced by offensive passing game coordinator Thomas Brown

“Thomas is a smart offensive mind who has experience managing plays with a cooperative mindset. I look forward to his leadership of our offensive coaching staff and his plan for our players,” Eberflus said.

The move comes as the Bears' offense has struggled in recent weeks, including going 23 straight possessions without a touchdown.

The Bears have a 4-5 record this season and have lost their last three games in which they scored a total of 27 points.

Waldron previously served as offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks before joining the Bears.
