The Shroud Guard Death Mage build destroys enemies

This Death Mage build from Dragon Age: The Veilguard makes the game almost too easy. Using devastating necrotic powers, you'll melt health bars. Even on the highest difficulty level, previously strong opponents are defeated in a matter of seconds.

In this guide, we'll show you which skills to choose, which gear to equip, and which companions to have with you to best optimize this build. When it comes to the best Dragon Age: The Veilguard squad synergies, you've come to the right place.

We are currently at level 44, but you can unlock the specialization required for this build at level 20. This is the Deathcaller specialization, located in the top right of the mage's skill menu.

As mentioned, this is a brilliant endgame build that's meant for higher difficulties because, honestly, on the easiest difficulty you can easily one-shot enemies.

Unlike the Spellblade Mage specialization, the Deathcaller is more comfortable at a distance. You steal the life force of your enemies and use it to restore both your life energy and mana before unleashing powerful spells.

While this class drains your health and mana, you'll constantly be replenishing both supplies throughout the fight so you don't run out either.

Simply put, all you have to do is hold RT/R2 to fire a continuous green beam from your staff with Mortal Concentration, then perform one of your four abilities as they become available.

At around level 40 you can unlock all the skills this build requires. However, let's highlight the most important ones and examine why you need them.
