N. Charleston police arrest minors in shooting death of boy

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – North Charleston police have arrested a minor in a shooting that left a boy dead.

North Charleston police spokesman Harve Jacobs said a male suspect, whose name and age were not released other than the fact that he is under 18, was arrested in connection with Sunday's Chestnut Street murder .

The teenager is charged with murder, armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

These charges stem from the incident in which officers responded to a reported shooting in the 3800 block of Chestnut Street around 6 p.m.

When they arrived, they found a male subject lying on the street suffering from a single gunshot wound.

The man told police that several people fled the scene and the report said witnesses informed officers that they fled toward Meeting Street Road.

EMS then took the man to the hospital, but he died during transport to MUSC.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office has not yet released the victim's name.

According to the report, the underage suspect was arrested around 9:30 a.m. Monday evening.
