Wanted murder suspect arrested after traffic stop in Horry County

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A man wanted for murder is behind bars in Horry County.

An officer with the Horry County Police Department stopped a car for speeding on Highway 501 in the Conway area around 3:15 a.m. Sunday.

According to a police report, the officer searched the car and found 14 grams of pot, two grams of meth and a loaded gun.

HCPD arrested 25-year-old Jamison Chambers for distribution of meth and cited another man. The agency learned that Chambers was wanted for murder out of Chesterfield County.

Chambers was one of several people charged in a fatal home invasion in Chesterfield County in 2017, our sister station WBTV reported.

This isn't the first time a traffic stop has landed Chambers back in jail.

WBTV reports that Monroe police arrested Chambers during a traffic stop in July 2024.

Chambers is currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $10,000 bail.
