Man convicted of murdering neighbor in EBR community

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A man accused of shooting and killing his neighbor has been found guilty.

District Attorney Hillar Moore said the jury chose Henry Williams III. on Monday evening, November 11, 2024, convicted of second-degree murder and several other charges.

According to officials, Williams fatally shot his neighbor, 25-year-old Ronald LeDuff, on West Chalfont Drive near Millerville in Baton Rouge on Saturday afternoon, May 14, 2022.

Williams was arrested after a nearly four-hour standoff and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office. He was charged and later convicted with one count of second-degree murder, six counts of attempted first-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon in a crime of violence and aggravated damage to property.

The public prosecutor's office released the following statement:

According to eyewitness accounts, after the shooting, LeDuff was casually chatting with his neighbors and checking his mailbox when Williams, who lived across the street, made a comment to him, crossed the street and onto LeDuff's property. Williams was reportedly wearing black clothing, a ski mask and what appeared to be a ballistic vest, with a pistol holstered at his side.

Eyewitnesses said the two men argued, which led to a fist fight, and then Wiliams shot LeDuff, who was unarmed, as he tried to escape.
