2 charged with murder in Garland condominium

The Garland Police Department has announced the arrest of two people after a body was found in a condominium Monday morning.

Haley Barber, 20, and Leo Moore, 20, of Mesquite, have been charged with the murder of 53-year-old Johnny Mac Ross Jr.

Around 1 a.m., police found Ross' body wrapped in several layers of cloth in a condominium on Chaha Road, near Lake Ray Hubbard

According to investigators, there were signs of foul play in the apartment.

Police believe Ross was killed after being stabbed.

At the scene, investigators learned that Ross' 2001 Mercedes had been stolen from the complex.

Around 1 p.m. Monday, police spotted the vehicle on Miller Road near the LBJ Freeway.

When officers attempted to stop the car, Barber and Moore led police on a chase before stopping and attempting to flee, police said.

Both suspects were arrested.

Police say there is evidence that Barber and Moore knew Ross, but the argument that led to the stabbing remains under investigation.

Barber and Moore are being held without bail at the Garland Detention Center.
