MKBHD gets into trouble after forgetting to clear the speedometer

2024 hasn't been a great year for Marques Brownlee, perhaps better known as MKBHD. There's been some controversy surrounding Brownlee lately, and now there's another one.

On Monday, November 11th Brownlee uploaded a new video to his channel titled “How My Video Gear Is Changing,” and it was a double whammy. First of all, it was a 10-minute video whose sole purpose was to promote DJI. It's a bit strange for Brownlee; If he has sponsors, they usually only get a small part of the video and not the whole video, and these sponsors are usually very rare. Personally, I don't have a problem with it, even if it is rather annoying.

This is pretty telling since Brownlee didn't even announce that he was uploading a video to X, which he has done with every other video.

Going 96 mph on a 35 looks bad

However, the big controversy arose from a recording he took in the car. The Lamborghini Brownlee was driving also has his speed displayed on the passenger side, which he doesn't blur out. And it shows he was driving 96 mph just after passing a 35 mph speed limit sign. Additionally, there was a sign indicating that there were children in the area, which was also seen in the video. This is a terrible sight for him and his channel, and the police could get involved – but probably won't.

The thing is: he knew it was wrong. Because Brownlee blurred the speedometer in front of the steering wheel. But I forgot to do it on the passenger side.

Apparently Brownlee saw the controversy and edited the video to remove this already very short portion. And YouTube Editor lets you cut out parts of a video without having to re-upload it, which appears to have been the case here. When the video was first uploaded, it was actually 9:14 long; it is now 9:08 long, meaning he cut 6 seconds.

MKBHD appears to be having a bad year, which is unfortunate. But considering how many people see each video before it goes live, it's crazy that this little tidbit was missed.
