Trump Transition Live Updates: Trump Names Huckabee Ambassador to Israel

While ABC News has not yet predicted control of the House, Republicans are on track to retain their narrow majority.

But Trump has already selected several representatives for his administration: Rep. Elise Stefanik as UN ambassador and Rep. Mike Waltz as national security adviser.

Spokesman Mike Johnson, asked about the issue Tuesday, said he had spoken to Trump about it several times.

“We have a really talented Republican Congress… Many of them can hold important positions in the new administration. But President Trump fully understands and appreciates the math here, and it’s just a numbers game,” Johnson said. “You know, we think we’re going to have a bigger majority than we did last time.”

The speaker added: “I don’t expect any more members to resign, but I’ll leave that to him.”
