Fairmont couple arrested after police find fentanyl in car with children

FAIRMONT, W.Va (WDTV) – A Fairmont couple was arrested Monday after police found fentanyl in the vehicle they were riding in with two children.

Albert Tichenor and Ashley Nuzum, both 36, of Fairmont, were arrested following a traffic stop at the Amaco gas station on Kingmont Road, according to West Virginia State Police.

A three-year-old and a 15-year-old were sitting in the back seat, police said.

After it was discovered that Tichenor's driver's license was suspended/revoked for drunken driving, he was arrested and police found a black container containing drug wrap and syringes on him, court documents say.

A K-9 revealed clear evidence of drugs in the vehicle, and police said they found drug paraphernalia under the passenger seat and a wrapper containing a blue-green powder that tested positive for fentanyl.

Drug paraphernalia was also found in the teens' back seat, according to court documents.

Tichenor and Nuzum are both in the North Central Regional Jail. Tichenor's bond is set at $75,000 and Nuzum's bond is set at $50,000.
