Wilmington man convicted of drug charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A local man has been convicted of multiple drug offenses.

According to court documents, police with the help of a confidential informant made a controlled purchase near the Market Noth Apartment on June 29, 2023. Joseph Lee, 28, of Wilmington, was armed with a handgun at the time and Lee was selling an ounce of methamphetamine.

Between June 29 and August 3, another 40 grams were purchased from Lee.

Lee was sentenced to 100 months in prison followed by four years of supervised release for conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, distribution of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine , convicted of using a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

He pleaded guilty on August 13, 2024.
