1 dead, 1 injured in crash in Yamhill Co

YAMHILL COUNTY Ore. (KPTV) – One person was killed and another injured in a two-car accident Saturday evening.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers were called to a two-car accident near milepost 58 on Highway 18.

According to their preliminary investigation, an eastbound Acura CL driven by 22-year-old Giovanni Zamora lost control and veered onto the right side of the road before making an excessive turn into the oncoming lane.

A tornado was reported near the beach in Rockaway Beach on Monday evening, the National Weather Service confirmed.

An oncoming Toyota Avalon driven by 21-year-old Mary Spiller crashed head-on into Zamora's car.

Zamora died in the crash. Spiller was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Her condition is unknown.

Traffic on the highway was disrupted for around four hours while police investigated. OSP said speed was likely the primary cause of the crash.
